So I mentioned a while ago I would eventually be having the shop running on inkwitch.net rather than through Etsy, but I didn’t think it would be this soon! Etsy have announced a new change that basically makes accounting far more complex.. I do struggle with accounting as it is (maths was never my strong point) so I think now is a good time to make the move. I’m a bit sad about it, I do like Etsy, but this change is really going to complicate things for me and many others (lots of comments saying similar things to me were left by other sellers, whether they’ll move to another platform I don’t know, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they lost a lot of users because of this).
I’m currently just ironing out a few things and making sure it’s all working properly before officially opening it, probably by the end of the week. I will be closing the Etsy store on 17th May 2018.
One slight problem with the shop being here is that there’s no checkout – which basically means you can only purchase one item at a time. From my short time on Etsy though, most people only buy one item at a time anyway, but to try and combat it I’ve reduced the postage to £1 per item. All items will be posted 1st class Royal Mail as usual, but I’ll have an FAQ and Shop Policy pages up when the shop launches that goes over everything like that. Now is a good time to mention though that it’s all done through PayPal, which is very safe and very reliable, so no worries there. 🙂
In other news, I managed to finish and resubmit my dissertation last Thursday, so fingers crossed it passes and I can graduate in July! With the dissertation out of the way, I’m also going to pick up where I left off and start making new stuff for the shop. At the moment it’s just the pocket mirrors, but hopefully in a month or two there’ll be lots more new stuff. On that subject, the Valentine’s cards sold so well I was really surprised! Please leave a comment if you’d like to see more greetings cards, or if you have any suggestions for items you’d like to see. I’m definitely adding A5 and A4 art prints, but other than that I’m not sure.
No more news really, except clearly I’m terrible at keeping new year’s resolutions (who actually isn’t though).. sorry to anyone who was expecting one blog post a week from me. Oops.
