Finally got around to drawing some of my researched flowers associated with love. I haven’t done all of them, just picked out my favourites and enough that there’ll be a variety on the image in terms of colour and the actual flowers.
I’m really happy with how these turned out – I used fineliner first, then made copies and coloured them in using Brusho. It worked much better on copier paper than it did on nice watercolour paper strangely – the colours came out much richer.
I’m going to make more copies of these and cut them out for my mock up ready for next weeks meeting. When it comes to the final image, these will be scanned in at high resolution along with the quote and figures, and assembled in Photoshop. I usually work with layers in Photoshop and find it much easier to dissect an illustration, draw it up separately and put it together digitally. I find it gives me much more freedom in adjusting and moving things around – much quicker than paper and scissors too! I can also save several versions and compare them.
