Collections: Book Arts – Seashells

Here is one of my book art outcomes for the collections project, along with the illustrations inside the book. I decided to keep this one simple – which was really difficult for me! I think I’ve been trying to overcomplicate things with the sorting when really it can be so simple, e.g a few objects made of the same material. I think further on I would like to try and tie the collections together somehow, but for now I’m keeping them separate and simple.

I was going to colour in these shells with a little watercolour, but having coloured in the back of the accordion pages with a bright blue, I thought it would be nice to just have them plain black and white. I have made a copy of these and will try and add a little colour though – I think it could work quite well and these shells have such beautiful colours – and maybe make another book arts form. It would be interesting to find out more information about the shells themselves, maybe if they have any specific meaning, for example in folk magic? We’ll see. šŸ™‚
