So basically, this is why I have been so inactive here lately. I can tell you now that animation is such hard work, you wouldn’t believe. I used the rotoscoping method in Photoshop – made my own little video (I felt so badass I can’t lie) and used hundreds, literally, of layers to create this short animation for our Narrative & Sequence project in uni.
So a little context – our brief was to create a 20 second long animation with the title ‘The Unexpected’. My animation is based around my character – who may or may not be based on me 😉 – who is an art student and activist, who uses her art as part of her activism. The quote “Art is the weapon” was taken from a slideshow picture I saw when I went to see My Chemical Romance on the Danger Days tour – it just seemed so appropriate for this and fitted well! It also gave it a little more context without me rambling on (which I’m definitely doing now).
Unfortunately I’m not cut out to be an animator, and this is the first time I’ve ever tried it, so please excuse it’s crudeness! I think it’s awful but not too bad at the same time – I have mixed feelings. Really glad it’s over to be honest, I do not enjoy animation! Though the rotoscoping method wasn’t too bad I suppose. Anyway, here it is, I hope you enjoy it (lol) and if you have any questions please feel free to comment and I will get back to you ASAP! We have an assessment on this tomorrow, so wish me luck 😛
